The Dark 5.4 is now available - here

The main site will be updated tomorrow, and a list of modifications will be added to this post later.

It is required that you start new characters, for SP as well as MP games.

 

 

UPDATE: Revision A is now available.

This version fixes a bug that caused certain monsters to miss too often, and adds a few minor adjustments.

Updating will not require to start new games or characters.

I knew it, when I saw you online I knew something good is going to happen :) Unfortunetly I won't have access to my pc and hf cd for few days, so I won't be able to play it :( Well, I hope to see full list of changes, atleast.

this might be a bug report:
In SP, new character Warrior, with Mangler.
Gargoyles aren't activated in Blood room on dlvl 3, only Bloodwing woke up when I entered, other gargoyles keep sitting

Bow-Staff-Weapon don't have appropriate prefix-suffix of level 1-2 for them, and are forced to remain white in Griswold's shop

Ah, I see.

As for the gargoyles, I noticed some in a random room in lvl 1. Most likely they are only a decoration (they didn't activate, yeah), I can't really imagine fighting gargoyles at level one.

Does someone know whether 5.4 works with Ulmo's stash? Can't get this thing to work, and it's my first try (so I dunno whether it's the new version, or it simply doesn't work for me :()

That's nothing new. I have at least seen those occasionally in 5.3. Just pointing out so that Zenda doesn't think it's a 5.4 bug.

It does for me. I deleted the old stash file before starting my first 5.4 char though.

Well, Griswold obviously realised that newly arrived customers never bought from his premium collection because of lack of funds, so he decided not to spend days on finding things they might be able to use but still not able to buy, and give them more choice in simple but affordable items

What's with Blood Wing anyway, 2 attempts of killing him, two uniques? Does he have some sort of 100% unique drop or is it just beginner's luck :D

This version has been very generous, I already found 4 uniques (2 from Blood Wing, 1 from King Leoric, 1 from random boss). Oh and the stash works fine now, just tell Ulmo to fix his rar package, it's incomplete.

When can we expect the full change list? I'm very curious!

Regarding a list of modifications, I think we need not hurry with it. Such a list can spoil a lot of fun for (newer) players, and it often has the effect that it makes people become unnecessary wary of things they haven't even encountered yet. We are making a list that mostly avoids these problems, but it takes time. Which is something we spent more then enough on this hobby already

I'm playing an MP mage at the moment (probably the character I've played the least in my Diablo career).

Well I made it to clevel 9 and dlevel 3, finding Blood Wing right at the end of my playing session, which was nice. He really caught me off guard.  It looks like I'll be visiting him a few more times before venturing to the levels deeper below. He gave me a lapis short bow of the stars (+9 all attributes and +47% lightning resistance). I'm really curious as to what else that guy might have in his pockets the next time we meet.

The atrium and blood room were both impressive. Special dungeon features make me happy.

Ok Zenda, have it your way (but it would be really nice if you at least told us the things we can't find ourselves - new critical hit formula and barbarian's berserker skill, for example).

So far I've noticed that base damage of long bow has been improved (2-8 now - used to be 2-6). I also noticed the "attack doesn't work when running" wasn't implemented in this build.

And you were serious with "normal mode monsters have the same R/Is as nightmare/hell counterparts" How can my mage get fat now when everything he encounters is resistant/immune to everything? He has to spam magic missle and drink manapots like mad. Guess he became totally co-op, so I'll have to wait for my mate's barbarian. I mean, he can do it when he has fireball and lightning blast maxed since he does like 300 damage with those spells to resistant monsters, but it happens late in game, when he has the mana to support those spells too. And what can I do with my poor sorcerer with magic missle level 1 and 300 mana?

well I got unlucky, the whole level was composed of such monsters :D

(gargoyles, dogs and something else, can't recall. Perhaps mud men?)

also, the prices in shops are rather low in this version, Wirt asking for only 30 000 for a ring of Zodiac? wow. :)
